(7) Media & Newsreports surrounding Cobain's Death

Updated: Mar 8, 2024

Because of Courtney's false statements, the media immediately picked up the story that Kurt Cobain was 'suicidal' and that he killed himself. The Seattle police did an investigation but Courtney manipulated the Seattle police successfully. The Seattle police accepted and believed that Kurt killed himself. Courtney spread the suicide story worldwide through the media. Hence the suicide story was accepted.

Love was befriended with the medical examiner Dr. Nikolas Hartshorne. He was the medical examiner who conducted the initial examination of Cobain's body at the crime scene. Hartsome also conducted Kurt's autopsy. In an interview with Halperin and Wallace, authors of "Who Killed Kurt Cobain?" Dr. Hartshorne acknowledged his friendship with Courtney Love. Medical Examiner Dr. Nikolas Hartshorne was an old friend of Courtney Love and her ex-husband, James Moreland. During the late '80s, Hartshorne was in the business of promoting punk rock groups and happened to book Nirvana at the Central Tavern in Seattle in 1988. Nirvana eventually became the opening band for Leaving Trains, which was headed by Moreland. Courtney talked a lot about her friend. According to Wallace and Halperin, she called Dr. Hartshorne “my rock-and-roll medical examiner.”

Then there is SPD’s lead detective, Sgt. Don Cameron is also allegedly Courtney’s friend. Courtney tipped him about Seattle dealers who in return gave her professional advice.

Narcotics Detective Antonio Terry was a good friend of Courtney. If Courtney got angry and wanted one of her drug buddies arrested, she would call Terry and ask him to bust them.

Courtney love's strong involvement in the police investigation and her connections with police detectives, it is more likely to say that Courtney Love manipulated the police investigation in such a strong way that the medical examiner Dr. Hartshorne concluded that Kurt Cobain died from a self inflicted shotgun wound to the head. In others words: Suicide.

Even before the toxicology report was made and the results checked. The Seattle police immediately ruled Kurt's death as a suicide on the same day as when they found him.

Was it a homicide then the place where Kurt's body was found would have been treated as a crime scene and being checked throughout for evidence, but since police ruled Kurt's death immediately as a suicide. Nothing was really checked until a few months later. The Seattle police said Kurt's death was an open and shut case.

By the time the Seattle police investigated Kurt's death on April 8, they were already convinced Cobain committed suicide. One Seattle policeman told Ian Halperin and Max that when Sergeant Donald Cameron ordered the homicide unit to investigate Cobain's death, he told them that the investigation was just "for show" and not to be too investigated throughout.

The world believed Courtney Love by her words. There was no thoroughly investigation done immediately when Kurt Cobain was found dead. The suicide story was spreaded everywhere to those who wanted to hear it.
